You will find the Walled Garden inside the Down Grange Sports Sports Complex in West Basingstoke. The easiest route is to come along Pack Lane from Brighton Hill Roundabout, (you go past Halfords (on the right) and Homebase (on the left)) and follow the road until you see the playing fields on your left hand side. You will see a turning on the left

Take this entrance and follow the road right around the running track and Hockey pitch. Eventually you will come into a car park and on one side is a large brick wall. Set into the wall are a pair of wrought iron double gates.

Go though these and follow the path until you see a gate with a red metal flag. These are our grounds. Follow the walkway through the small opening in the yew hedge and you will come to the firing point. PLEASE DON'T go round by the paving slabs as this will bring you directly onto the range. There is no vehicular access from the Winchester road via the Miller & Carter Restaurant or Beechdown Health Club enterance.

Popham woods

Popham Woods have been associated with BARPC for many years at which we hold our open and winter HFT/FT league competitions at. Situated just off the A303 near the airfield, they are one of the best wooded shooting grounds in the South and provide an environment for creative HFT and FT courses to be set, whether in the depths of winter or the “hot” days of Summer although its generally accepted that late spring when the woods are covered in a carpet of bluebells is the most stunning time. It is here you will find shooters from near and far coming along to take part in “The Easter Bunny Bash” and “Summer Sizzler” events. The EBB (formally the “Nockover Classic”) was historically held here back in the early 1990’s.

We now use the Woods on a more regular basis with a fortnightly Sunday morning “meet” for practice and club leagues. These take place between 09.00 and 12.30 as advertised via email and the Club Forum although we do advise confirming a date before attending as dates can be subject to change due to weather etc. Open competitions such as the Summer Sizzler and Bunny Bash are usually held at Popham Woods.

From Basingstoke : Traveling south on the M3, take the A303 turning at junction 8 towards Andover. After approx. 1 mile you will see a BP Petrol and Service station and a Starbucks (was previously a Little Chef when they existed) on the left hand side of the dual carriageway. You have just passed the entrance to the woods, however they are over the other carriageway on your right. In order to access the woods continue down A303 until you come to a slip road, take this slip road which is sign posted to Micheldever Station and Overton.  Drive to the T junction and turn right so that you go underneath the A303. Turn immediately right again to go back onto the A303 heading back to Basingstoke.  Once back on the A303 go past the service station / Starbucks / Greggs (again previously a Little Chef) on your left which serves this side of carriage way and as you go past, you will start to go down a gentle hill. Start slowing down. After about1/4 mile there is a lay-by.

From the south travelling North on M3 : Drive to junction 7 and come off on slip road. Go back over M3 on bridge and come back on yourself staying in the left hand lane. Filter off left on A303 slip road towards Andover, look out for the service station / Little Chef on your left and follow the instructions as above

From A34 : Join A303 at Bullington Cross and head towards Basingstoke & London. After you pass the slip road to Micheldever Station, look out for the service station / Little Chef on your left and follow the instructions as above

Indoor range, East Oakley village hall

The indoor range is at East Oakley village hall  and  is our 10m dedicated target range for both 10m pistol and rifle disciplines. Range times are Tuesday evenings from Sept to end May between 07.00pm and 09.00pm. Members using this range generally take part in one or more of the NSRA winter postal leagues. The atmosphere at this range is generally a little more reserved and quiet as the concentration to shoot 10m demands a higher level of concentration. That said, you will find our “indoor Section” a very friendly and welcoming bunch.
