An
introduction to the Basingstoke Air Rifle and Pistol Club
Welcome
to the revamped BARPC website which we hope will be of interest to both
new visitors and existing members.
With the new look website comes our new Web Master, Trevor Roberts who
has kindly taken over from Paul Bristow who moved on from the club at
the end of last year to pursue other shooting interests. The committee
would like to extend thanks to both on behalf of the membership. Thanks
also to Paul Cabrelli for keeping the calendar up to date since Paul left.
We have many plans for the new site including a member’s forum, sales
section and competition section.
You will find us a very welcoming club, with our members partaking of
Field Target, Hunter Style shoots, CO2 pistols, or just plain plinking
at the outdoor range and, during the winter months, inside at our venue
for 10m pistol & rifle or our new 60 yard general indoor range. In
addition to these ranges, we now have access to Popham Woods once a month.
Prospective new members are welcome to come along to our usual meetings,
see below for days and times. If you want to learn more why not take a
look at the articles written by our members in the news
section.
If you decide to come along please note that any legal limit, (not firearms
certificate - FAC) airgun is acceptable for use, but we do not allow steel
or copper BB shot, darts, Prometheus type pellets, or other ammunition
which can rebound. In practice, this means lead only.
Club
Competitions
Most of the competitions we stage at the grounds are very informal club
events, but we occasionally invite guests from other clubs, and once or
twice a year we put on a major competition on hired or loaned ground out
in the country for a really authentic shoot. These events draw shooters
from all over the South, from near complete novices to some of the country's
best shots. Other clubs reciprocate by having open days and you'll find
a hard core of members attending these events throughout the Summer months.
Meeting
Times
We meet throughout the year on Sunday mornings from around 09.00 to 12.00,
and during June, July, and August on Tuesday evenings from 19.00 to 21.00,
at our main range, The Walled Garden, Down Grange recreation grounds /
sports fields, off Pack Lane, Kempshott, Basingstoke
You are welcome to come and visit the club where we will be pleased to
introduce to our club. You can then come along for a free “taster” session
and try a shoot at any of the 3 main venues, after this you must join
the club if you wish to attend further. Membership is £55.00 per year
for an adult member with other rates for juniors and family members. There
are no range fees at the walled garden however there is a small charge
at “The Rat House” to cover electric and tea and coffee and a charge for
those using Popham at the monthly practice/club league morning sessions.
( Please note, entry cannot be gained by the Toby/Downgrange Health Club
entrance on the Winchester road).. fees
